Recount For Motu Moana.

On Monday we went to Motu Moana for a school trip. It was a forty five minute drive and it was a bright sunny day. I looked out the side of the bus and the window was stained with crystal ice. I had my jumper which was warm and snuggly. I was sitting at the back of the bus, and when the bus stopped butterflies ran through my tummy. I walked off the bus with my friends and sat on the freshly mowed grass. It had an amazing sea view. The sun was reflecting off the soft waves and made my eyes water.

First the instructors came and introduced themselves. We had to go to the monkey bars. We had to get across without falling into the lava (which was actually bark.) We discussed how we could make it across, and came to a solution. We made a small flying fox across the cold, metal bars and we held onto the it and zoomed to the other side, we were across in seconds.

The second activity was abseiling. At first I was determined to get up there, but when it was my turn to go up, I didn’t feel like going up anymore. I went up the squeaky stairs and I felt as if I was going to fall. It was true, I was afraid of heights. When I got to the top, I felt like I was going to fall to my doom in just seconds, if someone came up to me and pushed me off the wall. I didn’t want to look down. They secured my harness and helmet tight, and I was ready to go. I held on tightly to the rope and carefully slid down the wall. When I reached the bottom it felt like I had been up there for years. I took my helmet and harness off and stood on the ground like I had just flown. I went up a second time and I went down faster then I had come up. I had overcome my fear and I hoped to do something like that again.

For the third activity we went to the flying fox and I swung down really fast. It was so fun, I wanted to do it again but we didn’t have enough time. For the last activity it was orienteering. It was really fun but it got really hot and I needed to take my jumper off. We found most of the clues and we decided what the sentence was and told the leader. We got it right and we walked back to the bus. Everyone was inside and my friends saved a spot for me on the back of the bus. It was such busy day, I nearly fell asleep on the bus. But the great thing about it, was that I overcame my fear of heights and would LOVE to do it again.
